Welcome to Year 6
Our team of dedicated and experienced staff is made up of Mr Horne, Miss Haslam and Mrs Shetty along with our Teaching Assistants, Mrs Choudhury, Miss Ladega and Mrs Hubbard and our Learning Support Assistants - Mrs Williams, Miss Gates and Mrs Oprea.
This is a very important year for our children as we aim to support their development and prepare them for high school next September, as well as their Key Stage 2 SATs in the summer term.
We follow a literacy-rich curriculum, centred around texts, which are linked to our termly themes. We aim to link the Humanities and Arts subjects within these themes, following the recommendations of the National Curriculum. To make learning exciting and engaging, we include lots of skills-based learning within our lessons. We follow the ‘Maths Mastery Approach’ in our teaching of mathematics.
We expect and trust our Year 6 children to be positive role models to others and to represent the values that we aim to instil within our children – values such as responsibility, compassion, trust, resilience and teamwork.
