Pre-School
Our Pre-school is led by Mrs. Denise McEvoy and supported by Mrs. Julie Osborn and Mrs. Claire Morris, who joined the Pre-School in September 2018 as Keyworkers, having previously worked in Haslemere Primary School for many years.
We are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful and dedicated team.
The Key workers provide both structured and unstructured play opportunities inside and outside. These activities are based on the Principals of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and designed to engage children in practical, first-hand experiences which will support children to discover, explore, investigate, develop their personal interests and areas of curiosity, and help to make sense of the world around them as they begin to understand specific concepts. Play opportunities are also set up to provide children with opportunities to apply newly acquired knowledge, demonstrating their skills and levels of understanding.
There are different areas of learning, these are:
Prime Areas
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Specific Areas
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Expressive Arts and Design
We also teach the children basic Makaton, and teach concepts and languge using 'Concept Cat’, and ‘ECAT’. Our theme this term is ‘Fairy tales’, each week we will be looking at a different story.
